Tete Getty is the pen name of Getty Musiiwa, Moyo Netombo, “Vanyachide” a direct bloodline descendant of Changamire Dombo I — born Domborakona Chingwangwô, Supreme Lord and Founder of the Rozvi Empire (c.1684–1695), the most powerful empire on the Zimbabwe Plateau, whose greatest achievement was the complete military expulsion of Portuguese colonial forces from the Zimbabwean interior between 1684 and 1694 — a feat that delayed full European colonisation of Zimbabwe by nearly two centuries. A Southern African researcher, writer, analyst, and cultural observer, Moyo Netombo holds a BA Honours in Development and Peace Studies and a MADip in International Politics and Security Studies from the Institute of Peace and Security Studies (IPSS). Her work sits at the intersection of history, geopolitics, culture, spirituality, and political economy across Southern Africa — from ancient cosmologies and indigenous knowledge systems to contemporary African dynamics. She has a particular interest in the history of science, archaeoastronomy, and space weather, bridging African worldviews with modern scientific inquiry. She is the founder of the Tete Getty Research Institute (TGRI) and Tete Getty House Publishers, editor of the Southern African Cultural and Heritage Journal and The Second Great Zimbabwe Economic Journal, a recognised Zimbabwe Heritage and Cultural Expert, and founder of the Africa Arts Society in UK. A prolific journal contributor and independent scholar, her research appears in both academic and popular publications. When not writing or researching, she curates history and science memes — because even serious scholarship deserves a laugh.🇿🇼🫶
