Today we celebrate. Loudly. Joyfully. Without apology.
Forty-six years ago, on this very plateau where our ancestors built in stone two thousand years before any colonial boot touched this soil — we raised our flag. We said our name. Zimbabwe. And the whole world heard it.
To the liberation heroes — vana vari musango — who gave their lives so we could live ours freely: you are not gone. You are in this red soil, in this granite, in the thunder of the Falls, in every child who walks this land with their head high. We carry you forward. We carry you in joy, which is what you always wanted for us.
And to every Zimbabwean alive today —The farmer in the field. The miner underground. The teacher, the nurse, the trader, the artist, the musician making the world stop and listen. The builder. The dreamer. The one in the diaspora who never stopped calling home. The Spirit of Zimbabwe sees you, honours you, and rises with you.
Look at us. One Zimbabwe. Black and White. Young and old. In the recording studio, on the football pitch, on the global stage — building the second Great Zimbabwe together, as one family.
This is what Tongogara dreamed. This is why they fought. We are not finished. But we are rising — and we are rising together.
Zimbabwe yaive. Iripo. Ichavapo. She was. She is. She shall be.
