The Great Dyke
of Zimbabwe
One of the world’s most extraordinary geological features, the Great Dyke is a 550-kilometre linear intrusion of layered ultramafic rocks. Formed approximately 2.5 billion years ago, it hosts one of the highest concentrations of platinum group metals on the planet — second only to South Africa’s Bushveld Complex.
The Dyke runs from Musengezi in the north through Harare’s surrounds, Kadoma, Gweru, Zvishavane and into Mberengwa in the south — anchoring Zimbabwe’s entire chrome and platinum economy.
Zimbabwe’s Lithium Revolution
Zimbabwe holds some of Africa’s most significant hard-rock lithium deposits. Government policy in 2026 mandates domestic processing before export — a transformative shift toward battery mineral sovereignty.
